Julie Labanz (DiNuoscio)
You’re not broken — but you may be carrying around beliefs and stories that were never yours to begin with.
I grew up in Cincinnati, where conversations about sex were often cloaked in shame or silence. Over time, I saw how deeply that impacted people — friends, family, even myself. That’s part of what drew me to this work. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I am passionate about helping break down the walls of discomfort and shame and working to open people up to talking about sex and issues around sexual health. I believe that education can bring about great change and I would love to see people stop settling for mediocre and step into the fullness of their own potential.
It is clear to me that educating others about their bodies decreases shame and opens up conversations around self-love, consent, and healthy boundaries.
Many of the people I work with come in feeling burned out, stuck in patterns they can’t quite name, or afraid they’re “too much” or “not enough” for their partner. Whether it’s a desire discrepancy, difficulty orgasming, recovering from purity culture, or exploring kink or ethical non-monogamy, we work together to uproot the unhelpful messages — the weeds — that have taken hold over time, and plant new, sex-positive seeds that allow you to feel more connected, confident, and free.
For me, this includes bringing sex positivity into all of the work that I do. I am affirming of kinky, LGBTQIA+, and polyamorous/CNM relationships. My motto is to never yuck someone's yum - what works for one person or relationship may not be true for another. I am here to help guide you through exploring whatever grey spaces you might find yourself in.
My approach blends the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples slow down, really hear each other, and rebuild emotional and sexual connection. I also draw from CBT and parts work to help individuals challenge old narratives and build a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
In addition to my sex positive approach, I also have training that influences the path that I take to help clients through their healing. I graduated from Miami University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and received my Master of Arts in Counseling in 2017 from Cincinnati Christian University While I consider myself a secular therapist, if faith is important to you, I am happy to incorporate it into our time together; however, it is not a requirement for working with me. As someone who considers themselves a purity culture dropout, I find that I can hold space for many different perspectives. Whatever your background, you are welcome in my space.
Therapy with me isn’t just about education. It’s about being witnessed — having a space where you can say the things you’ve been carrying alone and not be met with shame. It’s about finding what works for you, not what the world told you should.
If you're ready to explore your story in a new way, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
